(Have you checked your holiday dates in the tariffs & availability calendar yet?)
Arrival and departure
Catamouse Cottage will be cleaned and sanitised ready for you to arrive any time after 4:30pm. On the sad day that you leave us, it would help enormously if you could please load and turn on the dishwasher, have a quick clean-up and put the rubbish outside in the bin. Thank you!
Check-out time at Catamouse Cottage is 12 noon. This allows us enough time to prepare for the next guests.
Welcome pack and basket
In the kitchen you will find a Welcome basket of essentials (with a few surprise welcome treats!) plus, fresh milk in the fridge.
Smoking
For the comfort and safety of all guests we politely request that you adhere to our strictly no smoking policy in the cottage, gazebo and hot tub.
Wireless wi-fi
Our broadband wireless network is called Catamouse. . . and you'll find the password in your Welcome pack.
Keys
You'll find all exterior door keys hanging in the hallway. Please don't remove them from the property instead, when you go out, use the side door and pop the key into the key box to prevent it from being lost on a beach somewhere!
Please note that door handles need to be in the fully upright position in order to lock the doors.
Towels
The towels we provide are for use in the property only, so please bring your own towels for the beach. You'll find towelling robes for use with the hot tub (lovely to wrap up in when getting out of the hot tub on a cool night!) and there are hooks for these robes on the gazebo.
Infants & young children
A highchair and a travel cot with mattress are both available, free of charge, on request.
Hot tub, gazebo & garden
The lights above the hot tub, and those situated around the garden and cottage, will automatically come on as it gets dark. You can override the fairy lights in the gazebo using the switch in the gazebo.
Please read the safety information sign posted in the gazebo before using the hot tub and the basic instructions that you will find in your Welcome folder. If you need further help, or would like to adjust the water temperature, then please just ask!
We want you to thoroughly enjoy the spa experience (it is magical at night under the twinkling lights!) but please remember that sound travels a surprising distance after dark, so please keep noise to a minimum in the evening.
Wood burning stove
We provide a handy starter basket of logs and kindling alongside the stove. Further logs (stored in the box outside the back door) can be purchased using the honesty box in the utility room. If the log store runs low, just let us know and we'll top it up.
Bins & recycling
Pembrokeshire County Council has strict recycling rules to protect the environment, so please use the two storage containers in the parking area, following the recycling instructions on the notice in the Utility room.
Catamouse Cottage shares it's rural location with many species of birds and other wildlife, so please make sure that any rubbish or recycling bags left outside are placed in the storage bins on the parking area, safe from their inquisitive beaks and noses!
Rubbish is collected very early each Friday morning so please put as much as possible out on Thursday evening.
Finding things...
A file with appliance manuals can be found in the cupboard to your left as you enter the Utility room from the hall.
There is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the same Utility room cupboard, along with a basic first aid kit and the main fuse box. (In the unfortunate event of a power cut during your stay, please call us!)
The microwave is inside the larder cupboard in the kitchen (Please leave both cupboard doors open when using the microwave). You'll also find a hand blender in the kitchen drawer.
The iron & ironing board are in the cupboard to your right as you enter through the back door (please make sure the iron is completely cold before replacing in the holder for storage).
An indoor clothes airer is hanging in the cupboard to your right as you enter through the back door.
There is a charcoal BBQ & tools in the boot room, but please bring your own charcoal.
The rotary washing line is fixed to the side wall of the house. Open the gate to the right of the back door and you will find it on the wall to your left. . . simply remove the cover and pull the line out from the wall, remembering to fold it back in and replace the cover after use.
You will find a hairdryer in each bedroom for your convenience, plus a torch in case of a power cut.
In the hallway, you will find a basket with lots of tourist information booklets. You'll find these really useful, so please leave them for future guests.
Safety & security
Although this is an extremely low crime area, please lock the doors at night and when you leave the property.
To avoid the risk of injury, when in the garden or hot tub area please only use the plastic plates, bowls and drinking glasses provided.
Parking
The cottage has private, off road and gated parking, for up to 3 cars
important maintenance
Julian pops into the garden every morning before 9am to check that the water in the hot tub is at its optimum. Every effort is made not to disturb our guests, and we hope you understand that this maintenance is necessary to ensure a safe and hygienic spa experience!
The window cleaner calls once a month and it may be during your stay. . . however, he is very nice, doesn't take long, and will disturb you as little as possible!
Whilst we always try to mow the lawns between guests, if the weather is being uncooperative then we may have to do it during your stay. If so, we will attempt to carry out the work whilst you are out and about.
